Has anyone here done work in Japan before?
I'd like to move there some day and I'm largely interested in that market.
Everything I've done, and all that I have yet to do, is only to forget the meaning of your name.

Hello for Japan is easy cause they 're looking for occidental girls but there are a lot now! But it's a very good experience.A lot of very good photographers and very nice models. if you are interested I can mail you some good agencies to contact.

Whats occidental ?
Howdy.I'm a 18 year old half asian from Ireland who really would love to get with an agency who can get her exposure or anything please look at my profile and get back to me :D

Occidental is the opposite of oriental, Cindy.

In other words ther are a lot of blondes getting work in Japan. Although some of the work ain't necessarily modeling.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

On-Off:

I would love any info you could give me.
I seem to amuse the general public enough in Japan, why not try to take it a step further.

Ah right thanks charles!
Angel best of luck!
Try searching the internet for agencies over there and on jurgita to find ones and contact them through email.

Cindy Hui:

Thanks but I have a very long way to go!
I don't have anything serious to present any agencies with at the moment.
Just wanted to learn a little more about modeling in Japan in general.

That should be an exciting market

i was interested in japanese model also!!!! i am learning japanese and plan on visiting one day! Are black models popular there? I'd love to go there!

Axelle Inc., Bravo Models, World Top Inc, Yoshie Inc are a few of the modelling agencies that I know right here in Tokyo.

If anyone is interested in doing tfp here please send me a private message as I do not check these forums often.

Black models are not "popular" here - meaning that I dont see very many black models being represented by any of the agencies I dont know if that is because they dont want them or because they are simply more rare. Might be a good thing to hit them up.

Jefrey:

Once I return to Japan I may drop you a line.
I thought I was going back in August, but now I am unsure. Cost a lot of money to do the whole Japan trip. ;)

Reva:

No there are not many in Japan at all. I could think of a couple reasons as to why, but I may be far off base.
I say go for it. And good luck on your Nihongo! Beautiful language, not as difficult as some people say. Their are several people around Tokyo especially which know some English, but knowing their language will get you much farther.
You will also 110% need to learn about the way they do business and the way their society works if you intend to work there long term (or even short term). This is unavoidable.

what reasons????:endecided: im very curious... thats a good thing for me, I like being one to break molds!

My thoughts are not exactly.... Jurgita friendly. :cantlook:

None the less, don't let it stop you from trying!

Angel:

My brother travels to Japan several times a year lecturing and teaching Anime techniques. (Let's not get into questions about how a black West Indian get to go to Japan to teach how to draw Anime...just know it happens.)

His name is Austell Callwood, he draws and publishes an Anime print series and owns the Alexandria/Springfield based Anime and Japanese Art store, AnimeFX. Google him.

At the conventions he lectures at, dozens of models are hired as live characters that are photographed and sketched during the conventions. They have both Oriental and Occidentals as characters.

I'll check with him and see if I can get some contact names and event dates for you. The Anime conventions attract a lot of big industry from cell phone makers, to camera makers to car manufacturers, etc. who are looking to sign and contract characters from Anime seires to endorse their products.

It is a fantastic networking ground full of big money people who are ready to buy and sign contracts.
:cantlook: Have faith that the universe will unfold as it should

I'm familiar with AnimeFX I used to live in Nova, now moved up to Maryland. So I've been their at least a few times looking for products.

I am an anime fan, but never gone far enough to do the cos-play.
Sounds a lot like the gaming industry. ;)
Let me know.
