unique, you just grab the audience attention...example.. there could be hundreds
of girls in for an audition but out of those hundreds, only 1catches the judges
eye.
well i hope that help.. |

just like a model" .. but why. I mean, what does model exactly look like? * Love the Life* |

characteristics/values which are difficult to be defined in detail.. probably
due to different values looked by different persons. However, there are common
values accepted among these people.. and again.. probably as a result of several
values added together. For example.. you have beutiful face and body.. but no
special characteristic.. accepted. You have beutiful face and special
characteristic.. but not beutiful body.. accepted. You have only beutiful face..
not accepted. So whoever with the accepted value.. they have the look. But hey..
that's just opinion.. |

| Date: 2007-04-08 19:27 I dunno, I think "the look" is only what a certain person finds attractive. It
doesn't have a certain definition or a certain characteristic. I think that
usually "the look" is whatever is popular in fashion or beauty at the
time, so maybe it can be the same with a lot of people. But honestly, I could
probably go on for hours about this, and continue to backtrack on top of myself
with "it could be...BUT..." or "I think...but also...and this..." because simply
saying "the look" is so vague and undefined. |

ID: 183878 Posts: 1002 | Date: 2007-04-08 22:43 The reason the "look" is undefinable, is because it is more than just being
photogenic. It is not just what the fashion of the moment is, although we can
look back at photos from the last century and seen how much has changed in all
that time. But Pictures of Lillian Russell from way before my time and Jean
Harlow, Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe, Ginger Rogers, Grace Keilly, et al--right
up to today's super models and top actresses, who each can be said to have the
"look," because when they look at a camera--or a camera looks at them--something
magical happens.
They turn on some special thing that projects right out of their eyes. Whatever
it is speaks directly to our souls. It makes other women want whatever it is
they are selling or portraying. It makes men want to meet them or fantasize
about them. Quite frankly, it is true of certain men as well. Straight men won't
like admitting it, but there are iconic male types that we all want to be like
and who we admire. On the other hand, we note that women have vastly different
ideas about what makes a man attractive, which is why I seldom make comments
about male models here. Other than whether or not they have photogenic features
and maintain good body tone, I can't say what makes a man sexy or the kind of
model that will appeal to the fashion trade or even as entertainers these
days.
For instance. To me Clive Owen looks iconic, the kind of man who looks right
with a sword in his hand--or Russell Crowe--if those guys were selling men's
suits, it would influence me because I'd think the suit might fit me, being that
I don't have a body like Toby McGuire or Leo Dicaprio or 90 percent of the male
models.
So my range is limited. I know what the "look" is when I see it in a female. I
can see whatever it is that makes a visceral surge in me or my son and
grandsons, my buddies and acquaintances.
Having the "look" does not mean automatic success. Plenty of women have lived
and died with all the makings of being a Vamp, a model or a movie star without
ever having done any of those things. And hundreds of women without the "look"
have fought, scratched, schemed and worked hard to become all of those things
and succeeded out of sheer determination.
I give you Drew Barrymore and Christina Ricci for two actresses who have gone
from cute child actors to women who can carry a movie at the box office, also
Jodie Foster. None of them raving beauties, but they overcame the onus of being
a child actor and kept at it untill they made it.
In the end, you are what you make of yourself. All I can do is say you have a
shot based on your "look" or not, but I have no say in what makes you determined
to succeed. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try! |

the wide-set eyes, yet they are far from being standard beauties. I think they
were lucky to be in the right place at the right time. So Chloe, you better try
to be in some of those places. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

| Date: 2007-04-08 23:00 i think "the look" is different to everyone. Everyone has their own idea of what
beauty is. Charles you dont find those women very attractive, yet Chloe does.
to a certain extent there are certain features most people find beautiful.. like
clear skin or straight teeth, but others vary. Some people like blonds, some
like brunettes, some like tall, some like short, some like curvy..others
skinny.. the list goes on.
It's all in the eye of the beholder. |

i doubt that if they were far from being standard beautys
that they would be so popular |

they are both very different from the average--as you are-- and if someone put
the right makeup on you, dressed your hair just so (or put a wig on you) and put
you in fabulous clothes and had your photos done by a top shooter, you'd be just
as gorgeous.
But Ward just happened to be at a model search event because a friend was trying
out and her friends pushed her into trying out, too. Cole was walking down a
London street when a scout spotted her and chased her down to get her name.
Lightning strikes. The iron was hot. The Gods went crazy for a minute.
Don't sit and wish it could happen--start looking for a way to make it happen. If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!

but she sets off that visceral thing I talked about. On the other hand, I looked
at 20 pictures a few moments ago of Cole and the only thing that struck me was
that she dresses up nicely.
