Does anybody think that I am good enough to become a model, or should I just give up on my childish dreams...please tell me if the pictures that I have uploaded here are good enough to, or if I should change them...

NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!!!!
no matter how hard it may seem never ever give up on them.
Try changing your shots though, there all pretty similar all taking at arms length.
Try getting somebody else to take them add more diversity to your portfolio.
Try a headshot and a portrait body shot. Then add others to suit the catagories you hope to get into.
Live life to the max and never look back!

People are less likely to let their fears win,
When they can do what they want when they try.

I think you need some better photos to kick start your modeling. Those on your profile are not doing you justice, though they are better than nothing. Try approaching some local photographers with good portfolios for some TFP. That should give you a good starting position. From there you can gauge interest more effectively.

Yea i agree - I think you can do well but just need better pictures :) which are not taken in a mirror ;)
* Love the Life* :thumbup:

I like the idea she is getting with the mirror. But try getting someone esle to take it so it shows you all.
Or try one where your getting ready to go out so your doing your hair or make up and have someone else shoot it. just a thought

You don't actually even need someone else... just time, a chair, a pile of books and a digital camera with a timer :)

Still approaching a half-decent photographer for TFP is a lot easier!

lol yeh thats true. but its so much easier someone else taking them lol, like for angles and such.
But yeh your idea on the approaching a photographer is a good one

I'll be brutally honest in order to get to a point. Hang with me until I make my point and don't get offended!

Judging by your profile, no. You don't. The pictures are pictures you would see on MySpace in every single girls profile. Nothing stands out in the least bit to me and I would guess to 90% of photographers looking at your profile.

I said that to make a point. Pictures in your profile are very important. You know how they say that "first impressions are lasting impressions"? You want people to look at your avatar and want to click to view your profile. Then you want them to see the pictures and want to click each one. Having nothing but self-taken pictures in your port doesn't make someone want to do that. You are not alone, there are plenty out there just like that.

You are attractive and you COULD make it in commercial/print work, and possibly glamour. The only way for anyone to say with certainty is to see quality pictures of you. By quality I don't mean spending a lot of money to get a photographer to take pictures, but do your homework, find a photographer near you who is trustworthy, and see if you can do a TFP/TFCD. You have an attractive face, but that is all we can see in your pictures. We can see part of your boob in your avatar also, though! :shh:

Long post to say this... Do you have what it takes to be a model? We can't tell without decent pictures. You have potential but we need to see more.

Everyone is good enough as long as they put their mind and efforts in whatever they want to accomplish.

Politically correct, but sadly not quite true in the real world...

lol I was going to comment on that but I didn't want to be harsher than I already have been. BUT, you are right. Some people are not cut out for modeling just as some aren't cut out for brain surgery. I am one of those who wouldn't make a good doctor or surgeon... my memory is horrible and that isn't good for a surgeon!! lol

um, thanx for the advice...but I don't really have much time anymore since my father almost died of a massive heart attack two weeks ago, I have pictures of me from other people, but I don't like them because of the way my body looks, I would'nt even consider myself a plus size model...I'm just really worried about other stuff, but yea, I will take into consideration of your thoughts, and I will try new things, thanx.

"don't like them because of the way my body looks"

Here's a small tip. Hardly anyone like the pictures they see of themselves. They especially dion't like them if the are taken with a your typical amateur wide-angled lens which stretch out parts you don't want to stretch. But here, most of us could make a better judgement of those other pictures than mirror shots alone.

Everyone has said to get a photographer. Good advice. Maybe there is a photo school nearby or some place that offers photo classes. Even a student photographer would likely be a good way to get what you need.
If I haven't been there, I'm still planning on going!
If I haven't done it, I've still got time to try!

One other tip, from the not liking your body, is you need to be able to dissociate from that. You need to work out the difference between a bad pic of yourself and a good pic which shows aspects that you personally don't like.

I remember working with one model who had a lovely smile :)

Sadly she didn't like her smile.

Of course, this didn't come out until after the shoot :(

It meant a lot of wasted shots.

Now if she avoids smiles on her portfolio, she will be downplaying herself as that was a great smile :)

Hello;)
If you're doing Photography, doesn't that make you a Pixel sort of Flash Surgeon?...Then you're memory must be fine!:D

Thanks, Tekhanei! lol I guess that's one way to look at it!

I'd also like to issue an apology to the O.P.. Apparently, judging by PM's I have received from her, I shouldn't have been honest in my comments. When she said, "please tell me if the pictures that I have uploaded here are good enough", I attempted to do that but apparently didn't do a good job. Instead of trying to explain myself in PM's to her on what I meant by my simple comments, I am choosing to apologize for attempting to help her.

I humbly bow out of this thread because honesty wasn't what the O.P. truly wanted.

I think until you've worked towards making your dream a reality, there should never be any talk of giving up! All it does is undermine your confidence, it makes you feel like you're not 'good enough'... and that's a phrase that should never have come into being. There's no such thing as not 'good enough', because good is such a general word it takes in everything about the individual. I used to think because I'm not the skinny type I'd never be any good as a model, then recently I said, this doesn't make sense, it's not only skinny people who model!

Never say you're not good enough for something, you'll only make yourself feel terrible. If you think something about you isn't quite suitable for what you have in mind, analyse why, and then see how you can present it in such a way that it -will- be suitable for what you want to do!

Don't be afraid to experiment. Smile, pull faces, try every expression in the book, play around with your hairstyles... see what you're best at, what you like, what you don't like, and then -why- you don't like it.

I'm sorry to hear about your father's heart attack, I'm glad he made it through, not many do!
