These days there are A LOT of reality shows popping up.
Is it fair that these days a person can go on a TV show and emerge a model?
Plenty of other people having been working their butts off for years trying to get where they get in a few months or even weeks.

But, then again.. these people are getting a chance they may not have gotten without the television show.

What does everyone think.. Modeling reality shows.. a Gift or Not? Why?

It's a good chance to enroll in this business and to become a well-known person. But there reality-shows cant's be a good atert for career as Elite model look, for example.

too bad it happens that way. its not fair. but generally, they say life is unfair
:lips:sexy:lips:

There are many ways to be in the industry.. and reality TV in my opinion is now one of them. I'm not sure on how do they get there, but i think they definately have worked hard to be in the show itself. Whether or not they can sustain (in the industry).. will be a different issue. Fair? i'll say YES.

Everyones gotta start somehow. I guess the part that isint fair is the fact that these certain ones get chosing and not others but hey i think thats more jealousy lol.
But you can see ones that do work their ass off who end up getting no where... and then those who just suddenly get piced off the street then shoot to stardom...
I guess its all really luck..
Howdy.I'm a 18 year old half asian from Ireland who really would love to get with an agency who can get her exposure or anything please look at my profile and get back to me :D

i suppose it can be luck. i think it really depends on whos attention you grab. If someone is looking for a model just like you and sees you on the street then like that you may become famous...

I do think that reality tv shows can be good. Maybe someone doenst have the money to go traveling to go to open calls for agencies or to start a decent portfolio. These shows give them opportunities that they may have never gotten. But i guess with the internet now a days its easier to get your face out there! :D

Yeh true.. maybe i should stop covering myself up lol. Baggy jeans and hoodies when i go out just cant be helped in ireland though.

Yeh the advancements in technology might make it easier.. but at the same time.. if your not what they want.. then.. its just the same as a talent scout walking past you is it not?

i suppose.. even if your on the street. if your not what their looking for.. you wont catch their eye as much. Especially with the amount on models registered to sites like this. I can imagine scouts and agencies wouldnt bother looking through thousands of portfolios and thats why they prefer you go to them. If you are what their looking for.. great! if not.. NEXT! .. you never know what an agency is looking for unless you try! you could be exactly what they want.. or maybe not. but its worth a shot

I agree though Cindy.. maybe i should dress to impress more LOL.. naa also very difficult here in Canada. Its still quite chilly out. cant help but wear jeans and a sweater.

model that get a break through because of reality tv are sometimes aggressive to other models, they always want to be the center of attention.

Not always, alot the time its planned out by producers to act this way..
Like if everyone was so nice to each other it wouldnt draw the viewers in. But sure it doesnt mean that other models in the industry who didnt get in by reality tv shows arent any less agressive to other models..
Jealousy is a horrible thing..

Kimberly.. Yeh thats the only bad thing.. the coldness stops us from wearing any suitible clothes to hug the figure to show the scouts.. although.. possibly our heights also do it :(:(

aaw :( sooo.. true. .. i have one question though... height doesnt matter as much in commercial modeling.. so where are all the agencies with commercial models? or even scouts looking for them..? .. A LOT of the agencies on here if you look at their websites only have tall models.. :( abbooo

I know.. alot maybe dont seem to advertise that they do it..
I know iv left up posts for international commertial modelling agencies.. because theres like none here that do it, or the ones that do use the tall models :dunno:
Although no one even responded :(

aaaw.. atleast you've tried though. I've only contacted a few agencies, but none responded. I plan on going to some open calls in the fall.. and contacting alot more angencies this summer. I'm sure if we keep searching we'll eventually find something *crosses fingers* :muscle:

Yeh iv send out a message to every scout in ireland and agency on this and also every agency in ireland externaly..
I havnt sent any to the big international ones cause with my height.. aint no chance lol
theres never really open calls here either.. mostly have to make appoinments
none seem to want short models..:(
Maybe i should move?
Live life to the max and never look back!

People are less likely to let their fears win,
When they can do what they want when they try.

it's a good thing

Cindy.. maybe you could contact agencies else-where and if one wants you then think about moving? :dunno:

Reality shows is not unfair. Every person can find his way to break into industry,

Yeh but its the same everywhere, same height requirments..

Except in Malta, because 5"4' is considered 'a good height for a woman' But then again, there isn't much of a modelling industry at all here :(

It just well sucks.. i still think that opening a modelling agency for those of short height and "imperfections" work ..
maybe start up our own magazine...
hmmmm lol
