Born in Agana, Guam, by a Filipino couple in the U.S. Navy, Raphael is the second of three children growing up mostly overseas in Japan. When the father, after serving for more than 20 years, retired in 1993, the family set out to Southern California where they still reside today.
Throughout life, Raphael has been active in many sports. While growing up in Japan, he participated in little league baseball and was always staying afterschool to play football, dodgeball, and basketball. Raphael was also active in learning martial arts leaving him with a black belt before the move from Japan.
He was first interested in acting when during his elementary schools years he tried out for a play, but unfortunately did not get casted. Instead, the director made him part of the production crew.
Soon later, Raphael realized that he loved music from listening to the cassettes and CD's his older brother, Rene, bought. He then started singing with the student church choir and middle school chorus. During the second half of highschool, Raphael auditioned and made it onto the school show choir, the best in the San Gabriel Valley at that time, where he developed his singing and dancing abilities. "Being part of the show choir was a very enjoyable experience, because it showed me the great feeling of being a performer and recieving reactions by the audiences of the many shows and competitions we participated in."
After highschool, Raphael attended community college and Cal State Universities' Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona, while working numerous jobs ranging from ice cream soda jerk to waitering, financial services and auto sales, and also real estate. Raphael is a few quarters shy to getting his Bachelor's Degree in Management and Human Resources and plans to finish school soon.
Now at 26, Raphael wishes to pursue a life long dream in the entertainment business. Knowing that it is harder for men as they get older, he feels he should at least try before its really too late and he's just an old fart. If modeling doesn't start his career, Raphael also has plans to further develop his voice and create his own songs with the lyrics he has been writing over the past few years. Acting is also in the plan and as he takes classes and develops his skills, Raphael will make his dreams of being an entertainer come true.
